When I was a freshman, I took this class called First Year Florida. Basically, it was a BS class that showed you how to be a better student and uses campus resources. Anyways, one of the things we did was learn about job interviewing and making resumes. During one class, we had some speakers and experts come in to help us learn job interviewing skills. I remember one of them asked us what was our brand was.

Before, I didn’t think much of it but, lately, I’ve been wondering about my purpose on this earth. What can I do and what do I do well? Is the career I’m currently pursuing right for me? Will I regret the choice? So many questions have been let loose in my mind, to which I don’t have the answer. Then, this past weekend, this question resurfaced from the abyss of my mind, ‘what is your brand? How do you sell yourself?’

Between when I first heard this question and now, the way I interpret it is different. Originally, I thought this was for the benefit of the employer. It was what they wanted to hear from me but, now I feel it’s for me. It’s my way of identifying myself and how I choose to present myself in the face of family, friends, and strangers in most situations. I know you all are wondering now, so what exactly is your brand?

To me, a brand can not only be who you are but, it can also represent who you strive to be. Don’t worry, I’m not going to throw you all a red herring and then leave you hanging. My Brand is what I hope to represent one day, a silent leader. I hope to lead not ostentatious words but by example and by deed. From here on out, I hope all my actions can sell myself as a leader.

Thanks for listening to my rant,

Shikaardeta

You, your physical and mental attributes are all valuable assets. How do you make use of your worth? That brings me back to my original question but, this time I’m not questioning myself, I’m asking you. What’s your brand and how do you sell yourself? Please leave your input.
