If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while now, you know that one of my goals is to help you become the best version of yourself. I love to focus my posts on topics that help you grow as a person. Sometimes that can be in your personal life or your professional life. I just want to see you grow. It’s all apart of the journey to personal development.

Today, I’m going to tell you exactly what you need to be focusing on in order to become the best version of yourself. It’s actually quite easy. It requires a little soul searching, some self-care, and a sprinkle of discipline every now and then.

Here are how to become the best version of yourself:

Become a Life-Long Learner

Yes, I’m telling you to read, watch educational videos, and listen to informative podcasts. All the stuff that you think is boring. Well, it doesn’t have to be boring.

Educate yourself on the subjects that actually interest you. Educate yourself in the areas that you would like to grow in. If you want to become a writer, learn how to become a better writer. If you want to become a designer, follow other designers on YouTube and learn from them.

If you want to inspire others, get inspired yourself. Listen to inspirational podcasts and learn how to be inspirational. Learn a new language. Travel and learn a new culture. Hang out with new people and learn a new way of viewing life.

Becoming a life-long learner does not just have to be subjected to math, books, and boring documentaries. You can learn anything you want. And you can start now. It’s not too late! You may not become an expert, but that shouldn’t stop you from wanting to learn and grow.

Take Care of Yourself

This is a loaded tip. There are so many compartments to taking care of yourself. When I say take care of yourself, I mean:

Eat Well

Eat enough. Eat your vegetables. Take your multivitamins. But, don’t only rely on your multivitamins to work magic on your body. Multivitamins can only do so much. So eat your fruits and your vegetables. Carbs are okay. Fats are okay. Just eat more unprocessed foods and whole foods than you do processed foods and you’ll be okay. A little donut every now and then never hurt anyone. Some foods are good for the soul. And some foods are good for the body.

Get Enough Sleep

No, you are not actually doing well on six hours of sleep. You just think you are. Try to get seven to nine hours of sleep a night consistently. You will see how your life changes. It’s amazing.

Yes, you will not always be able to get that perfect 8 hours, but you also shouldn’t make it a habit to only get five hours every night even when you have nothing to do.

Sleep has so many benefits. It can help with your brain function, mental health, and hunger.

Rest

Don’t forget to rest. Take a break. And I don’t mean when you’re sleeping. If you just keep going all the time without stopping to refuel, eventually you’ll burn out. How can you expect to become the best version of yourself if you have no motivation because you’ve burnt yourself out?

Move

Stop sitting down so much. Remember to get up from your chair and stretch every now and then. Your neck and your back hurt because you’ve been slumped over in a chair for 11 hours a day. Give your body a break. Stretch. Take a short walk.

Take Care of Your Mental Health As Well

Your mental health is so important. Just because you can’t see it, does not make it any less important. It is only a priority if you make it one. So, don’t forget to take time out for your mental health.

That means taking a breaking, getting rest, or even separating yourself from certain people and environments. Your mental health plays a huge role in your drive to do things. And sometimes certain places and people can affect your mental health. So make sure you check in with yourself and your feelings once in a while.

Stop Comparing Yourself

You are not your friend, your sibling, your mother, or your father. You work on your own timeline. Success is never late. Whenever it comes is right on time. So don’t let someone else’s timeline deter you from what you want to do. Don’t let it deter you from what could possibly be your destiny. You are you. Your journey will be unique. So, focus on your own.

In Conclusion

Follow these tips and you’ll be on your way to becoming the best version of yourself. The journey is long and sometimes very hard. But, just continue to think of your end goal and what the best version of you looks like. Just remember that everyone’s best version of themselves are going to look a little different. So, don’t get caught up in someone else’s version of success. Define your own and you’ll end up being the best version of yourself sooner than you expect.
